Public employees may be subject to disciplinary action by a variety of state and local agencies. Also, some classes of public employees may take tests or receive other assessments for hiring.

Some state employees are governed by the State Civil Service Commission. Borough, township, city and county employees may be subject to a local civil service commission. Other public employees have disciplinary matters submitted to an arbitrator. Pittsburgh firefighters have a system called a “trial board.” I have represented clients in all of these types of hearings.
